It's a world where residents get to choose their name, pick their body type, build their perfect homes and indulge their alter egos. It's also a place where social networking has reached a whole new level: where real lives intertwine with cyberlives and inhabitants are turning virtual environments into real-world profit centers. Just as Google sexed up the way we search, and MySpace altered the way we interact, Second Life is tapping into a deep-seated desire for people to reinvent themselves. A look at a few of the characters from this virtual world, and the ways in which they're using it.
