Benazir Bhutto’s death should not have been a surprise. The former Pakistani prime minister narrowly escaped assassination in a suicide bomb blast the day she returned from exile on Oct. 18, 2007. She wasn’t as lucky on Dec. 27, 2007, when an attacker shot her in the head and neck after a campaign rally in Rawalpindi. At least 20 others died in the bomb blast that followed the shooting.
