The first item in our litterbox of pet products, the cat piano, was designed by the 17th century priest and intellectual Athanasius Kircher, in an effort to cheer up his friend. The piano would produce music by gathering cats with a range of meow pitches, then whacking them with sharp spikes to the rear.
