Until recently, a dorm was just a place where students rested their heads in-between classes and off-campus parties. But in an effort to draw students, and distinguish themselves from rival universities, some schools are souping up their student housing. Some are now offering resort-like amenities, including water parks, high-tea service, pricey mid-century furnishings, and oceanfront views. Here’s a look at the trend in deluxe dorms, starting with the Illinois Institute of Technology's glass elevator (pictured here).
