Religious scholars have long aimed to expose diverse audiences to the words of the Bible. During the 1800s, scriptures were made available in native American languages: Delaware in 1818, followed by Mohawk, Cherokee and others. The first Braille Bible was produced in 1911, and today, Bibles can be found in forms as diverse as manga and MP3s. Now there is the "Bible Illuminated," a Bible repackaged like a fashion magazine, complete with modern, provocative photography and uninterrupted text (verses and title numbers have been removed). The brainchild of Dag Soderberg, a Swedish ad guru, the aim of the "Bible Illuminated" is to lure readers who might not normally pick one up. Excerpts:
