It’s probably been the most photographed election in history, with everyone from professional photojournalists to supporters wielding camera phones creating a visual record of Sen. Barack Obama’s historic campaign for the presidency. The NEWSWEEK exclusives in this gallery, however, capture many of the behind-the-scenes moments that few outside the campaign get to see. Here, a collection of some of the finest work by photographers Charles Ommanney and Scout Tufankjian, on assignment for NEWSWEEK, as they shot the final months of Obama’s bid for the presidency.
