Working Together for the Day After
Photographs by Christopher Anderson / Magnum for Newsweek
Most U.S. forces are leaving Iraqi cities this month, but thousands will remain to advise their Iraqi counterparts on combat tactics, intelligence gathering and more. They are separated by language, religion and the question of who’s in charge, but the U.S. soldiers and their Iraqi partners are yoked together by a still-daunting mission.
