Since the global financial crisis struck in late 2008, large- and medium-size companies worldwide have made deep cuts in their workforces. Employees affected by those layoffs have not reacted quietly, from a sit-in by hotel workers in Chicago, to steel executives locked in their offices in eastern France, to giant blockades of beer outside breweries in Belgium. A look at how workers around the globe are dealing with mass layoffs.
