In the cold, barren northern reaches of Scandinavia, nomads called the Sámi depend on the reindeer herds for sustenance. In recent years, rising temperatures and mild winters have threatened the delicately balanced pastures where the reindeer graze. Rain increasingly falls instead of snow in winter, posing problems for the Sámi and their herds.
