A new class of tech pioneers—like Bart Decrem of Tapulous, seen here—seem to be unbothered by the knowledge that whatever they’re doing might not work out. They have no fear of failing, and paradoxically, that’s what enables them to succeed. Silicon Valley is crawling with these companies, many of them born during the recession and all of them determined, in their own way, to do what Apple CEO Steve Jobs calls “putting a dent in the universe.”
