Forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi retook the oil town of Ras Lanuf last week. The city had been the rebel's most advanced stronghold, but fell after an assault by air, land and sea. Benghazi, the second largest city in Libya, remains the rebel capital, though clashes continue as Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's security forces try to regain control of cities held by anti-government rebels.
