Being eco-conscious at the checkout counter means more than bringing a reusable tote bag. It also means choosing to patronize stores that operate sustainable businesses and disclose the details of their operations and environmental impact.
Newsweek figured out which big retail operations are the most earth-friendly in America by consulting this year’s Newsweek Green Rankings. The overall list was put together for the fourth year in a row with research partners Trucost and Sustainalytics, using a methodology that was developed in consultation with an advisory panel of corporate sustainability experts. Companies were ranked based on their performance across three variables.
