Call it inevitable, call it a continuation of tragedy. After consistent provocation from Hamas over the past few years, the Israeli military last week launched its own offensive, beginning air strikes on Gaza that intensified throughout the week. Top Hamas military commander Ahmed Jabari and his assisstant were killed, and countless civilians have faced more destruction--and tragedy. Hamas has responded by firing rockets into Israel, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli offensive would continue, and could even expand, if such launches continue.
