The 10 most fascinating and frustrating videos of the Gulf Coast oil spill

Since the oil rig Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank April 20, killing 11 rig workers and sending a seemingly unstoppable plume of orange and black oil to the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, it's been hard to look away. The disaster has become the worst oil spill in U.S. history, dwarfing the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska. In addition to the human toll, sea turtles, birds, fish, and dolphins are imperiled by the spreading slick. After numerous failed attempts to stop the flow of oil from the well 5,000 feet below the surface—including robots, golf balls, giant domes, a "top kill," "top hats," and diamond saws—BP now claims that the "majority" of the leaking oil is being captured by a containment cap, the installation of which the world was able to watch thanks to numerous live video feeds. But watching BP's many failed efforts hasn't been the only frustrating video to emerge from the crisis; here are some of the most fascinating and maddening video clips of the last months.
