Hacker on Why He Turned in Alleged Wikileaks Source

7/27/10: Adrian Lamo, perhaps best known for hacking into the New York Times computer system, explains why he told authorities that U.S. Pvt. First Class Bradley Manning was the alleged source of the Afghanistan Wikileaks docs. In the video, taken July 18 at the Hackers on Planet Earth 2010 convention, Lamo says Manning came to him with about 260,000 documents, including the Wikileaks “Collateral Murder” video, and that Lamo felt compelled to report the incident in the interest of saving U.S. lives. On July 25, Wikileaks released about 90,000 documents related to the war in Afghanistan, which the Pentagon has so far concluded do not hurt national security nor endanger U.S. troops. Prior to the release of these latest documents, Manning was charged with leaking classified information
