Prosecutors in Cincinnati will not recommend criminal charges against the mother of a 3-year-old boy who fell into a gorilla exhibit at the city’s zoo, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports, citing sources close to the investigation. The boy was dragged by a 450-pound gorilla into the enclosure, but came away with minor injuries. The endangered-species ape was immediately shot and killed in order to keep the young boy safe.
