One point for NPR in the war against conservative activist James O’Keefe: The public radio broadcasters released emails Thursday that showed they had refused money from a phony Muslim organization that O’Keefe set up. The Daily Caller reported earlier Thursday that NPR had only “publicly” refused a $5 million donation from the fake organization, but NPR spokeswoman Anna Christopher said the agreement “never got past the internal drafting stage.” In the emails, former CEO Vivian Schiller said she cannot accept any money from MEAC, the organization created by O’Keefe’s Project Veritas to infiltrate NPR, without any legitimate information. Schiller resigned Wednesday after O’Keefe released tapes of an NPR executive calling the Tea Party racist.
