New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman wants to investigate all police killings of unarmed civilians. Schneiderman asked Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday to approve state-led probes and prosecutions of police. In a letter to the governor, Schneiderman said the investigation is needed to address a “crisis in confidence” in New York’s criminal-justice system. The proposed probe comes days after a Staten Island grand jury decided not to indict the officer who killed Eric Garner in a lethal chokehold, sparking a wave of protests throughout the country.
