Surprised to learn you canceled your New York Times subscription? That’s because an email sent out by the paper to 8.6 million people was an accident, according to a spokesman. The email said that readers could get a special deal if they reconsidered their decision to cancel home delivery, confusing readers who hadn’t canceled their delivery subscription—or signed up for it in the first place. Further compounding the confusion, the paper tweeted that the email was “not from us,” leading people to wonder whether the site had been hacked and their information compromised. A spokesman then said the email had been sent by accident.
