Weeks into his presidency, President Barack Obama is hitting the campaign trail in purple states Indiana and Florida—but this time it's not votes he's seeking, but support for the $800 billion stimulus squeaking through Congress. As the ardent and divided stimulus debate continues, polls show that public support for Obama's plan has eroded. Though initially reluctant to leave the capital during this critical time, Obama will now hit the road to meet with people in localities weakened by the recession to talk jobs, stimulus, and construction. "Washington can be a little suffocating" said presidential adviser David Axelrod. "It's good to go out where the American people are."
