If the goal of the education documentary Waiting for “Superman” was to start a conversation, director Davis Guggenheim has just scored the best audience he could have hoped for. Guggenheim, along with five students featured in the film, will meet with President Obama on Monday. Though the film has been polarizing to many—and bashed by many progressives and teachers’ unions—it’s been well-received among some in the Obama administration, especially Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who called the movie’s release “a Rosa Parks moment.”
