A Harris County grand jury has cleared Houston Police Officer Juventino Castro in the fatal shooting of unarmed 26-year-old Jordan Baker last January. The incident, which occurred in an area with a high incidence of break-ins, began when Castro approached Baker, who was peering in windows. Baker resisted arrest, fled, and then, according to reports, put his hands in his waistband and charged toward Officer Castro, who shot and killed him. Castro, who was in his HPD uniform but off-duty, was working a second job as a security officer. Baker was later deemed to have been unarmed.
