On Monday afternoon, Washington, D.C., police broke up a fight between some local teens. As the crowd dispersed, an officer asked the remaining onlookers to vacate the area.
17-year-old Aaliyah Taylor instead started playing “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” on her phone and began dancing around the officer.
With all the recent national attention on police brutality, a natural assumption at this point would be that this story ends, like countless others, in violence. Thankfully, however, this is not that kind of video.
Amused, the officer claims she had better moves and starts to dance alongside Taylor, challenging her to a dance off. The prize? The winner would get to stay in the area.
“Instead of us fighting, she tried to turn it around and make it something fun,” Taylor told The Washington Post. “I never expected cops to be that cool. There are some good cops.”
The two skillfully did the nae nae dance until the tired officer forfeited, proving that doing the “stanky leg” could potentially resolve any conflict you may find yourself in.
