Officer Kills Self Before Facing Sex Crime Charges

David Edward Abbott, a 39-year-old police officer from Gainesville, Va., killed himself on Tuesday right before he was set to be charged with having inappropriate contact with teenagers. Police tried to serve him warrants but as detectives spoke to him, he pulled out a gun and shot himself. He was going to be charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties and two counts of using communications devices to solicit sexual offenses.
