Oklahoma lawmakers have passed a measure designed to make performing an abortion a felony, which, if enacted, would be the first of its kind nationwide. The bill would also make physicians unable to obtain or renew a medical license in the state if they’re caught performing an abortion. The bill passed the state senate in a 33-12 voteThursday. The bill’s author, Republican State Sen. Nathan Dahm, said he hopes the legislation plays a part in overturning Roe v. Wade. The governor’s office said she will not comment until her staff can review the bill.
