Don’t worry. the queen of talk won’t stay retired for long. Oprah Winfrey will once again be hosting a program once her daytime talk show goes off the air next year, after more than two decades of syndication. The show will be a part of her upcoming channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network, though OWN has not said whether it will be produced in her current headquarters in Chicago. The decision is part of an amended joint venture with Discovery Communications to launch The Oprah Winfrey Network, to which Discovery will increase its funding commitment to 89 percent, or $189 million. (Last week, Discovery said it had already invested $75 million of its $100 budget to launch OWN.) The channel will launch on or before January 1, it said in an SEC filing.
