Joe Biden may feel bad about pushing the president to publicly express his own feelings on gay marriage, but Obama’s words have inspired a few other pols to speak up. Former U.S. senator, representative, and one-time Democratic nominee for president George McGovern echoed the president’s sentiments this week. “I'm a ‘conservative’ when it comes to marriage,” he said. “I think if two people love each other, are living together and having sex, they ought to get married.” House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer also agreed with Obama, sending out a press release Thursday that said, “Because I believe that equal treatment is a central tenet of our nation, I believe that extending the definition of marriage to committed relationships between two people, irrespective of their sex, is the right thing to do.”
