As if things couldn't get worse for Pakistan: Following the devastating floods that submerged almost a fifth of the South Asian nation, angry Pakistanis spilled out onto a highway in the southern Sindh province, protesting what they see as a slow-motion government response to the devastation. British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg called the international community’s response to the floods "absolutely pitiful" on the heels of the U.N.'s call for $460 million in aid money. U.N. officials urged the international community to send more money to the region, warning that without clean water or basic health care 3.5 million children could contract deadly waterborne disease. To date, the floods have affected 20 million Pakistanis, destroyed 1 million homes, and killed 1,600.
