A lot is brewing so far today in Pakistan’s northwest tribal region: A suspected American missile strike killed at least 26 people, many of them Taliban militants, along the Afghan border. Meanwhile, Pakistan has signed a peace deal with a Taliban group that will allow said group to enforce Sharia law in the Swat Valley in northwestern Pakistan. The region will be governed by an entirely separate system of government dictated by Sharia, which includes, among other things, the prohibition of female education.
