NBA star Paul Pierce announced Monday that he is retiring from basketball, and the upcoming season will be his final one. “It’s time to move on from the game of basketball,” Pierce, a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, wrote in the Players’ Tribune. Pierce, a 10-time All-Star who is entering his 19th season in the league, was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1998 in the first round. He played 15 seasons with the Celtics and won a championship with them in 2008. After brief stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Washington Wizards, Pierce returned to his hometown of Los Angeles in 2015, and is looking to propel his team to a championship in his final year.
