Could Congress pass something of significance during the lame-duck session? Sources tell The Washington Post that the Pentagon’s upcoming report on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell will conclude that the military can lift the ban on gay soldiers serving openly with minimal risk to the current war efforts. The study group, whose report is due to President Obama by December 1, found that 70 percent of respondents to its survey of 400,000 active-duty and reserve soldiers expected a positive, mixed, or nonexistent result of repealing the policy. Several senators have said they refuse to vote to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell until the report is released.
