He may still be under house arrest in Switzerland, but Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer will have a limited run beginning February 19. Distribution will be expanded March 5 and again March 19 for wide release. The thriller, distributed in North America by Summit Entertainment, features Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan in a tale of a ghostwriter tasked with completing the memoirs of a British prime minister. The film is based on Robert Harris’ The Ghost. Harris has also authored the revisionist World War II novel Fatherland (adapted to an HBO movie), Enigma (adapted to a feature film starring Kate Winslet), and Archangel (adapted to a BBC mini-series starring Daniel Craig). Polanski himself is fighting extradition to the United States where he would face charges related to a 1977 child sex incident.
