U.S. border police said Monday they had discovered a 250-foot long, 15-foot deep underground tunnel between Arizona and Mexico that was equipped with lights, water pumps, and a ventilation system. “This tunnel is more sophisticated than other recently discovered tunnels,” said Chief Patrol Agent Randy Hill in a statement. The route the tunnel covered is a heavily trafficked route for Mexican cartels smuggling marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and other drugs. Discovered on May 2, this tunnel joined at least seven other tunnels found since Oct. 1 that run the route between Nogales, Arizona, and Nogales, Mexico.
