The Steele era is over. The Republican National Committee selected its new chairperson, Reince Priebus, on Friday, after seven rounds of voting. Priebus, a former chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party, was the front runner heading into the vote. The race came to a quick resolution after current chair Michael Steele dropped out of the running following a fifth round of voting Friday. He was just one vote behind Priebus after the first round, but dropped toward the bottom of the pack by round four. Priebus beat out second place Maria Cino, whom Steele has asked his supporters to back. Steele received a standing ovation after stepping aside. "It's very clear that the party wants to do something different," he said.
