Yes, we know he converted his Aston Martin to run off bio-diesel, but The Prince of Wales is also famous for frequently traveling with an entourage of at least 14 people including an artist who paints highlights of the trips (really), so it might be considered a bit rich for Charlie boy to be lecturing us about the environment.
Still, it’s never stopped him before - and here he goes again. The latest salvo comes in the form of the Prince of Wales’s film Harmony which is to be screened at the Sundance Film Festival in London on Saturday 28th April 2012. A book by HRH of the same name was released in late 2010.
It will be interesting to see how the film goes down with the British media.
Our guess is: not very well.
The brief trailer provides plenty of ammunition for those who argue the Prince of Wales is an arrogant and out-of-touch man who believes he is very, very special.
“I can only somehow imagine that I have found myself being born into this position for a purpose,” he intones plummily in the voice-over. Yes, but then again, maybe if your Uncle David hadn’t fooled around with Wallis…
“Remember that our children and grandchildren will ask not what our generation said, but what it did,” the Prince says at one point, blissfully unaware of the many ironies involved.
Time-pressed fans of the British satirical magazine Private Eye should forward the trailer to 2:30 where the Prince, dressed in a tweed cap, actually uses the phrase, “It’s simply appalling”. Vintage stuff. The sight of him munching an organically grown carrot in an immaculate cream suit on a farm is unlikely to inspire anything other than ridicule either.
According to the Clarence House press office: “Harmony tells the story of how The Prince has worked alongside a variety of environmental activists, government and business leaders, artists, architects and visionaries all working to transform the world, address the global environmental and economic crisis and find ways of achieving a more sustainable, spiritual and harmonious relationship with the planet.”
OK, and good luck with that!
