Saturday was another violent day on the streets of Middle Eastern cities. Clashes were bloodiest in Syria, where 26 protesters were killed in Daraa and two protesters were killed in Homs. In Yemen, security forces killed one protester and wounded 15 in the government’s first attack on demonstrators since snipers killed 52 people three months ago. Even in Egypt, the bulk of whose unrest seemed over, two people were killed and dozens wounded as the military tried to empty Tahrir Square.
