A new poll by Public Policy Polling shows Republican Rand Paul far ahead of his opponent, Democrat Jack Conway, in the race for the Kentucky Senate seat. Paul comes in at 55 percent among likely voters, Conway at 40 percent, a gap far larger than the 3.1 percent margin of error. The poll also suggests the effect of Conway’s last-ditch strategy of attacking Paul for his “Aqua Buddha” college prank, in which he allegedly kidnapped a classmate and forced her to bow to a deity. Seven weeks ago, 36 percent of voters thought positively of Conway and 36 percent thought negatively. Now, after his Aqua Buddha ads, 34 percent feel positively about him and 52 percent feel negatively.
