The International Olympic Committee announced Wednesday a team of refugees will compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. IOC President Thomas Bach said a total of 43 prospective athletes have been identified to compete under the Olympic flag for the Team of Refugee Olympic Athletes. The selected athletes will also be funded for training. “This team may end up between five and 10 athletes maybe,” Bach said. “We have no target. It depends very much on the sporting qualifications.” The IOC also announced fewer than half of the 7.5 million tickets issued for the Games have been sold.
