Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria has agreed to sell the franchise for $1.2 billion to a group led by former New York Yankees star Derek Jeter, the Miami Herald reported Friday. Jeter and Bruce Sherman, a wealthy venture capitalist from New York, are atop a group of about 16 investors who raised the funds to purchase the ball club. According to the Herald’s source, Sherman will be the “control person” while Jeter runs the business and baseball sides of the organization.
