Paul Manafort, former campaign chairman for Donald Trump and the center of an FBI investigation into ties between the then-candidate’s team and the Russian government, apparently hasn’t stopped doing business with international figures. Politico reports Manafort is even touting his continued access to the president in his business dealings. Manafort in at least one conversation allegedly indicated that he could convince the Trump administration to support one of his deals in China because he’s remained in contact with the president’s team. “He’s going around telling people that he’s still talking to the president and—even more than that—that he is helping to shape Trump’s foreign policy,” said a lawyer involved in the discussions. Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni said in an email: “Paul is not engaged in government affairs/lobbying or public relations work for corporations, governments, or individuals.”
