Republican National Committee officials have reportedly begun to consider cutting funding to Donald Trump’s campaign and redirecting that cash to help save endangered congressional majorities if he is unable to turn his poll numbers around by October. According to Politico, a top RNC strategist made that case to 14 political reporters on Wednesday, emphasizing the committee has thus far done more for Trump’s campaign than it did for that of Mitt Romney, due to Trump’s lack of political infrastructure. The strategist allegedly also told reporters that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has been contacting Trump “five to six times a day” in a desperate attempt to coach him into being a more steady candidate.
