Talk about unorthodox campaigning. Mitt Romney accidentally entered the Puerto Rican lottery while campaigning in the commonwealth—and the island’s governor joked that the presidential candidate will have to return if he wins. In an effort to clamp down on rampant tax evasion and a black-market economy, Puerto Rico Governor Luis Fortuno implemented a system where sales receipts at about 200 businesses automatically enter customers into the lottery—meaning Romney could win $1,000 or a car. The candidate and his wife, Ann, bought mangos and papayas at the market while campaigning in Puerto Rico, whose 20 delegates have become a hot commodity in the Republican camp. Although Romney brought fireworks to a San Juan mega-rally, he spent much of the trip on the defensive—reporters lost no time questioning him for his attacks on Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who is of Puerto Rican descent.
