William, Kate and Prince George have been taking a break from their official duties today after nine hectic days touring New Zealand, but tomorrow (Wednesday) they will board a flight to Sydney where they will kick off their ten-day tour of Australia.
It's been a good week for the royals in New Zealand, the Queen's most far-flung realm, with Kate and William's decision to save the first official reveal of Prince George for a Wellington playgroup playing well with local and international media.
The Australian leg of the tour will no doubt be equally well received.
William, Kate and George will arrive in Sydney tomorrow afternoon, and there will be a photo call with the royal baby on the tarmac when they arrive, but most attention will be focused on George when he visits Taronga, a Sydney zoo, with his parents on Easter Sunday.
The rest of the trip to Australia includes a trip to Uluru (formerly Ayers Rock), a visit of houses damaged by bush fires in the Blue Mountains, and trips to Adelaide and Canberra (but not Melbourne, to the disappointment of some citizens of that fine town).
Yesterday, the royals traveled to Christchurch where their official duties included visiting the Cardboard Cathedral -- a semi-permanent structure built to replace the cathedral damaged in the February 2011 earthquake."Despite the daunting job ahead of you, life continues with classic Kiwi humour, creativity, innovation, and determination. Christchurch remains a buzzing, thriving city,'' William said in a speech. The Duke and Duchess then returned to Wellington where they enjoyed a "quintessentially" Kiwi menu with the Prime Minister and his family of lamb, seafood and a pavlova.
