With dictators throughout the Middle East being overthrown, the U.S. may soon see the fall of its own corporate tyrant: Rupert Murdoch. That’s what veteran Murdoch-chronicler Michael Wolff has to say in the Guardian, following last week’s News Corp. shareholder’s meeting. Murdoch has always run his company like a dictatorship, dismissing the annual shareholders’ meeting as a ruse—and this year was no exception: “It rather seemed that Murdoch just regarded this as shareholders—those dumb sons-of-bitches—doing what shareholders always do: complain into the wind.” But with News Corp. embroiled in a widely-covered phone-hacking scandal, the CEO’s hubris may finally be his undoing. Indeed, Wolff predicts this will be the last annual meeting over which he’ll preside.
