Nothing in return, this time: A 12th person connected to the Russian spy ring was deported Tuesday, even though he was not charged with any crimes. Alexey Karetnikov, 23 years old, was living in Seattle and working as a software tester for Microsoft when he was detained June 28. He admitted he was in the country in violation of immigration laws and voluntarily went back to Russia. If Karetnikov returns to the U.S. without express government permission, he’ll face criminal and civil charges.
