Today may be a day for American remembrance, but when it came to the U.S. Open women’s final, it was all about Australia. Samantha Stosur throttled the U.S.’s Serena Williams 6–2, 6–3 Sunday. The straight-sets match was not without controversy: facing break point in the second set, Williams yelled, “Come on!” while Stosur swung at the ball. The umpire called this as interference and gave the point to the Aussie. Williams exchanged words with the referee during the changeover. Monday, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will play for the men’s championship.
