If Mitt Romney thought he had Illinois in the bag in his long march to a possible GOP presidential nomination, then he has some work to do. A new Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll shows him with only a slight lead ahead of Rick Santorum. Romney has a 35 percent–to–31 percent edge, but that’s within the poll’s 4-percentage-point margin of error, making it a virtual tie. Newt Gingrich is at 12 percent, and Ron Paul has 7 percent support. Illinois holds its primary March 20.
