The Supreme Court on Monday ruled 7-1 to reverse the conviction of a black Georgia man who was given a death sentence in 1987 by an all-white jury of killing a white woman. The justices ruled that prosecutors kept black jurors off the panel in Timothy Tyrone Foster’s case, denying him his constitutional rights. Lawyers for Foster found documents through the state’s Open Records Act that showed black jurors were singled out for exclusion.
