Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte, who won the Triple Crown riding the horse Secretariat, was involved in a car accident Tuesday night in Canada that left him with two broken legs. The van he was driving reportedly hit an icy patch of road and flipped near his house in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. The 73-year-old is “in good spirits” and “resting comfortably” in a hospital, his spokesman said. He has been given one white cast and one blue to represent Secretariat’s colors. Turcotte has been paralyzed from the waist down since 1978, when he was involved in a racing accident.
