On the eve of the Supreme Court taking on the historic gay marriage battle, another prominent U.S. senator is coming out in support of marriage equality. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) announced his support for gay marriage on his Facebook page Monday, saying that supporting marriage equality is “the fair and right thing to do.” Warner acknowledged that his views on the issue have evolved, saying the “we should continue working to expand equal rights and opportunities for all Americans.” Warner, who is up reelection in 2014, joins Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who made a similar announcement earlier on Monday, as well as Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton as politicians who have recently reversed their opinions on gay marriage.
